History of Tudor Watches

Tudor was established by Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex. It remains to this day a sister company to Rolex and has successfully lived up to that prestigious name and reputation since its creation. Wilsdorf created the Tudor brand as he decided he wanted to offer a more affordable watch that was accessible for a wider range of people, yet still upholding the supreme quality and reputation that Rolex is renowned for.

It wasn’t long before the Tudor name quickly rose to fame. Due to its exceptional design and the quality of its instruments, the brand became one of the leading watchmakers for both the military and professional divers. From the 1960s onwards, the US Navy Seals and the French Navy issued Tudor Submariner watches to their divers. In 1969, once the impressive reputation of the brand had been established and production moved increasingly towards robust and technical designs, Tudor decided to change its logo. The rose disappeared but the shield remained, symbolise solidity and reliability – a nod to military troops and navy divers that they could well and truly depend on Tudor as an entirely unfailing survival instrument.

Why buy a Tudor Watch?

If you’re looking for a watch that is steeped in years of history yet never compromises on style and sophistication, Tudor watches are bound to resonate deeply with you. Sharing the well-earned and solid reputation of close relation Rolex, these carefully crafted timepieces have been tried and tested over the decades to ensure excellence time and time again. Whether you wish to invest in a Tudor watch for personal use or as a gift that speaks a thousand words, you’ll never be disappointed with Goldsmiths' range.

Tudor Collections

Perhaps one of the most iconic men's and women's Tudor watches of all, the Black Bay is a truly timeless design that dates back through some of the first historic milestones of the brand. With a stunning array within this collection, you are spoilt for choice. David Beckham wears a number of these, including the Tudor Black Bay Chrono in steel, the Black Bay Bronze and the Tudor Royal.

If you’re looking for gifts for her, look no further than the feminine Clair de Rose collection. Refined, timeless and as elegant as can be, the Clair de Rose model's gliding curves and exquisite winding crown are in keeping with the brand's aesthetic codes. It’s easy to see why this sleek, understated design is one of the most popular ladies’ Tudor watches.

The 1926 collection pays homage to Tudor's heritage as a range of mechanical watches that are timeless and iconic in look, as well as efficient and reliable in performance. If you prefer a timepiece that’s steeped in history, the 1926 collection is the one for you.

If you are a true adventurer and thrill-seeker in need of a timepiece that is durable and robust, the men's Tudor Pelagos collection is the perfect place to start. Water-resistant up to 500 meters and built to modern standards, the Tudor Pelagos watch is one of the foremost traditional mechanical divers' watches on the market.
